Well technically the Nexus 9 is the first Android 5.0 Lollipop device, but the Motorola Moto G (2014) has become the first smartphone to receive the software update. While manufacturers are hard at work building the update for their flagships, Motorola has managed to beat Google's Nexus line and become the first to bring Lollipop to their devices.

The original Motorola Moto G is now receiving the Android 4.4.4 update, Unfortunately not all of the models are receiving the update. In fact it is currently rolling out for the XT1032 model, which is the most common international 3G-only version.

Motorola is reportedly rolling out the Android 4.4.4 software update for their affordable Motorola Moto G and customizable Motorola Moto X. The updated software brings improved photo results in fluorescent lighting, an adjusted dialer and a built-in copy of Motorola Alert.

Motorola Moto X, Moto G and Moto E receive Android 4.4.3 software update

Motorola continues its trend for offering quick software updates, by releasing Android 4.4.3 for its Moto X, Moto G (LTE), and Moto E smartphones. Motorola's Steve Horowitz, SVP of Software Engineering, has announced that Android 4.4.3, which happens to be the latest version of the platform, has been released for certain Moto X, Moto G, and Moto E models. While the others are expected to receive the update soon.

Motorola is now officially listing the Moto G Forte on its Mexican website. However it seems it it now a brand new device. Instead it is a regular Moto G encased encased in a Motorola Grip Shell out of the box (this Grip Shell is offered for an extra $19.99 in the US). We're not sure why Motorola considered that this requires an added name to the Moto G.

Keep in mind that this is a contract free price. The Moto G features a 4.5 inch display with resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels, 8GB of internal storage, a 5MP rear camera, a 1.3MP front camera, a 2070mAh battery and a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor with 1GB of RAM. The handset comes with Android 4.4 KitKat pre installed and includes exclusive Motorola apps which adds value to the handset.

Owners of the Motorola Moto G in the U.K. and Germany are now receiving the Android 4.4.2 software update. According to the change list from Motorola, the newest version of Android includes restyled status and navigation bars, a full-screen mode, color support for emojis, improved support for closed captioning, smarter power use, and for developers there are new and better tools for building apps.
