Google Play Edition devices will receive Android 5.0 Lollipop "early next week"
When Google first unveiled Android 5.0 Lollipop last month, they promised to bring the update to their Nexus and Google Play Edition (GPE) devices within weeks. Now that the Nexus devices started receiving Lollipop a few days ago, it looks like the company has shifted its focus to its GPE devices.

Android 5.0 Lollipop factory images now available for Nexus devices
Google has released Android 5.0 Lollipop factory images for the Google Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7 (2012), Nexus 7 (2013) and Nexus 10. Google previously announced that they have started rolling out the newest version of Android for "most Nexus devices", so you should start receiving the update soon. Meanwhile you could also consider installing the update using the factory images.

Google is now rolling out Android 5.0 Lollipop to all major Nexus devices
Google announced on Wednesday that it has started rolling out the Android 5.0 Lollipop software update as an over-the-air (OTA) update to "most Nexus devices". The devices set to receive Lollipop include the Google Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7 (2012), Nexus 7 (2013) and Nexus 10. The Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 come with Android 5.0 preinstalled out of the box, but are also receiving an OTA update with bug fixes.

Motorola Moto G (2014) becomes first to savor Android 5.0 Lollipop update
Well technically the Nexus 9 is the first Android 5.0 Lollipop device, but the Motorola Moto G (2014) has become the first smartphone to receive the software update. While manufacturers are hard at work building the update for their flagships, Motorola has managed to beat Google's Nexus line and become the first to bring Lollipop to their devices.

Motorola Moto X running Android 5.0 Lollipop demonstrated
Motorola has promised that it will quickly roll-out the Android 5.0 Lollipop update to its devices, and the Motorola Moto X (2014) will be the first to savor the latest Android flavor. LG G3 starts receiving Android 5.0 Lollipop software update
While the general opinion is that Google's Nexus line up will be the first to receive Android updates, it looks like LG has beaten them in getting the update to the latest version of Android, as it has just started rolling out Android 5.0 Lollipop for the LG G3.

Motorola Moto X (2014) starts receiving Android 5.0 Lollipop update amidst soak test
Motorola has recently made it a habit of bringing quick Android updates for their devices. Last year, it was able to push the Android 4.4 KitKat update to its Moto X before Google got the update out to the Nexus 4. This year we may see the new Moto X beat the Nexus 5 with Android 5.0 Lollipop.

Android 5.0 Lollipop has arrived, and with it brings a brand new user interface, the ART runtime, a power savings mode and several other features and improvements. As usual, Google's Nexus devices will be first in line for the update, followed by the Google Play and Android One devices. HTC has responded to several questions on Twitter regarding its Android 5.0 Lollipop update plans. While the new version of Google's mobile operating system was officially unveiled back in June, its premier was yesterday with the launch of the Google Nexus 6 and the HTC built Google Nexus 9.

Motorola reveals its Android 5.0 Lollipop update plans
The Google Nexus 6 is manufactured by Motorola, and will be one of the first products to ship with Android 5.0 Lollipop pre-installed. On top of that Motorola is planning to update quite a few of its smartphones to the latest version Android. While the company has not provided exact dates by which we can expect the update, you can see the full list of devices expected to be treated to Lollipop below.
