Samsung's Tizen 2.3 update demonstrated

TizenWhile Samsung has still to release a Tizen powered smartphone to the global market, the company has a decent lineup of devices (Gear S, Samsung Z) running their in-house mobile OS. 

Now Samsung is working on a new device (Samsung SM-Z130H) which runs Tizen 2.3, and some new screenshots give us a vision of what the latest version of Tizen will look like on one of Samsung's smartphones.

HTC One M8 receives Android 4.4.4 update with HTC EYE Experience in India


The HTC One M8 users in India, are now getting the Android 4.4.4 KitKat software update, which includes the HTC EYE Experience. The update which is being pushed out OTA (over-the-air) is reportedly around 300MB in size and brings the 3.35.720.1 software version.

Android One devices to receive Android 5.0 Lollipop next month

Google launched the Android One initiative as a way to bring affordable smartphones to users in emerging markets. Android One devices run on stock Android and are supposed to get quick updates to the latest version of the platform. While the Nexus series and Google Play Edition may be higher on Google's update priority, it looks the the Android One devices are next in line for Android 5.0 Lollipop.

Apple iOS 8.2 beta released to developers

Apple iOS 8Apple has released iOS 8.2 beta 1, just a day after releasing the iOS 8.1.1 update to the public. The newest beta is clearly focused on the Apple Watch, which is set to be released in early 2015.

According to the release notes, iOS 8.2 is strictly focused towards developers so they get their apps ready for Apple Watch, so they work in their other iOS counterparts. Besides the relevant APIs for developers, the newest version of iOS doesn't seem to bring any new features for consumers.

Apple Mac OS X (10.10) YosemiteApple has released OS X 10.10.1 Yosemite alongside Apple iOS 8.1.1 for mobile devices. The Yosemite update brings various bug fixes and performance improvements to Apple's desktop platform.

OS X Yosemite is probably one of the biggest updates to Apple's desktop platform to date. In brings some useful features like Continuity, Handoff and more. However, the big release had its own share of issues, and soon complaints started popping up from Mac users around the Internet.

Android 5.0 Lollipop OTA update zip files now available for Nexus devices

Google is now rolling out Android 5.0 Lollipop to all major Nexus devices

Google announced on Wednesday that it has started rolling out the Android 5.0 Lollipop software update as an over-the-air (OTA) update to "most Nexus devices". The devices set to receive Lollipop include the Google Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7 (2012), Nexus 7 (2013) and Nexus 10. The Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 come with Android 5.0 preinstalled out of the box, but are also receiving an OTA update with bug fixes.

Well technically the Nexus 9 is the first Android 5.0 Lollipop device, but the Motorola Moto G (2014) has become the first smartphone to receive the software update. While manufacturers are hard at work building the update for their flagships, Motorola has managed to beat Google's Nexus line and become the first to bring Lollipop to their devices.

Microsoft releases Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1 with Lumia Denim


Microsoft is now ready to release their next update to the Windows Phone platform - Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1. The update will also include Lumia Denim customization for Lumia smartphones. This update has already been rolled out to those using the Preview for Developers program, but the update is now ready for general consumers.
