A Google Play Edition (GPE) of the Motorola Moto G is now available through the Google Play Store. You can select the 8GB version for $179 or the 16GB model for $199 based on your preference. The Moto G GPE is an unlocked device and will run on 3G networks belonging to either AT&T or T-Mobile
The Moto G GPE running the stock Android 4.4 KitKat, which will bring it faster updates compared to carrier branded versions of the device. However if you consider Motorola's recent track record with their KitKat updates, and the useful tools the company has added with the device, it may be worth considering the regular Moto G instead of the Google Play Edition.
Does the release of the Moto G GPE mean that Google may offer Google Play Editions of all major device releases in the U.S., regardless of the price range of the phone. The bottom line is that it gives the Mountain View based tech giant more control over the speed of updates on Android devices.
