Apple iOS 8.2 beta released to developers

Apple iOS 8Apple has released iOS 8.2 beta 1, just a day after releasing the iOS 8.1.1 update to the public. The newest beta is clearly focused on the Apple Watch, which is set to be released in early 2015.

According to the release notes, iOS 8.2 is strictly focused towards developers so they get their apps ready for Apple Watch, so they work in their other iOS counterparts. Besides the relevant APIs for developers, the newest version of iOS doesn't seem to bring any new features for consumers.

Apple iOS 8.1.1 beta released to developers; promises to make the iPhone 4s and iPad 2 faster

Apple iOS 8Apple is currently seeding out iOS 8.1.1 beta to registered iOS developers. According to the release notes, the update includes "increased stability and performance improvements for iPad 2 and iPhone 4s." Both these devices are currently the entry level into iOS 8, and have faced performance issues since the release of iOS 7.0 last year.

Microsoft releases critical update for Windows Phone 8.1 Preview for Developers program


Those who use the Windows Phone 8.1 Preview for Developers, should have an update waiting for you to download and install. The update has the 8.10.14192.280 build number and should take around five to ten minutes to install. Microsoft calls it a "Critical Update" because it is necessary for it to test its update systems.

Apple Mac OS X (10.10) YosemiteApple is rolling out the third Golden Master (GM) Candidate of OS X 10.10 Yosemite, which is expected to launch later this month, following Apple upcoming media event. At this stage, Apple isn't adding any major features or changes to Yosemite, rather refining the software and making it ready for the end user.

Given that the Golden Master is usually the final build before an update is released to the public, we don't usually get a GM2 unless there are significant changes. However this doesn't seem to be the case with the OS X Yosemite GM2.

Apple's beta 2,has the 12B407 build number, contains bug fixes and improvements according to the release notes. However the 56.8MB size of the OTA update indicates that the update may include a little more than Apple is willing to reveal at this time.

Apple iOS 8.0Apple has released the Golden Master GM release of iOS 8 to supported iOS devices, including the iPhone 4s and newer, iPad 2 and newer along with the fifth generation iPod Touch. iOS 8 GM is likely is the final developer build of the update before it is released to the public on September 17.

Lumia Cyan now available for some Developer Preview devices

As you may know, those running the Windows Phone Developer Preview are not eligible for the Lumia Cyan update and have to revert back to the commercial version of Windows Phone 8.0 in order to receive Nokia's custom update. Fortunately it looks like Microsoft has rectified the issue for some devices.

Microsoft halts Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1 Developer Preview for HTC devices

Microsoft has stopped seeding out the Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1 Developer Preview for the HTC Windows Phone 8X and the HTC Windows Phone 8S. The update is in beta, and while it is really available only for those registered with Microsoft as a developer, non-developers can get it without paying the $19 developer fee, from the Windows Phone App Studio website.
