The original Motorola Moto G is now receiving the Android 4.4.4 update, Unfortunately not all of the models are receiving the update. In fact it is currently rolling out for the XT1032 model, which is the most common international 3G-only version.
The update is rolling out over-the-air and you should receive a notification when the update is ready to be installed. You can alternately check for the update manually under your Settings menu.
Fortunately the folks at XDA have been kind enough to post the update in the form of a ZIP file. If your phone is still running the stock Motorola recovery partition, you can download the update from the source link and flash it right away, though you may face issues on a rooted device.
Motorola has posted an update notice (version 210.12.61, different from the one posted above) for "all US Retail users," meaning that other versions if the phone sold in the United States might be getting Android 4.4.4 very soon as well.
Obviously when it comes to updates, everyone is waiting on Android 5.0 Lollipop. Motorola has committed to a Lollipop update for the original Moto G, including the LTE version, though predictably there's no date. That may or may not include the carrier specific models released for Verizon and AT&T.
