T-Mobile announces free tablet offer, and BOGO MetroPCS smartphone deal

Alcatel OneTouch Pop 7Its the holiday season and T-Mobile is in the giving mood. The un-carrier has announced that it's going to give away free tablets and smartphones to its customers.

On November 21, existing T-Mobile customers can visit a participating stores and get the Alcatel ONETOUCH Pop 7 for $0 down and $0 payments. That means that the customer will only end up paying the sales tax on the device. The offer will be opened up to everyone on November 22.

T-Mobile will be first U.S. carrier to offer the Lumia 635 with Windows Phone 8.1

Nokia Lumia 635T-Mobile has announced on Tuesday, that it will be offering the Nokia Lumia 635 with Windows Phone 8.1 on its network. This makes the nation's fourth largest carrier the first in the U.S. to offer the device. The Lumia 635 features a 4.5 inch touch display, 8GB of internal storage which can be expanded through microSD, 4G LTE connectivity a 5 megapixel rear camera and a quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor with 1GB of RAM.

AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and MetroPCS have confirmed that they will be bringing the device to their customers in April. Verizon, the nation's largest carrier is also expected to confirm availability very soon.

Nokia Lumia 521 coming to MetroPCS on Friday for $99


The Nokia Lumia 521 is now available on MetroPCS and costs $99 off contract. Considering T-Mobile is in the process of migrating MetroPCS customers over to their own phones and services, it is really no surprise to see a MetroPCS variant of a phone that has been clearly associated with T-Mobile.

The price is $50 lower than it retails on T-Mobile, giving potential customers yet another reason to choose the popular Lumia 521 as their new smartphone.

T-Mobile USA and MetroPCS and now merged as one

The T-Mobile and MetroPCS merger has officially completed and both companies now operate under the T-Mobile US brand. MetroPCS brings its 9 million customers to join T-Mobile's 34 million. The new entity will be traded on the New York Stock Exchange as TMUS.

Even with the merger T-Mobile still holds the fourth place behind Verizon, AT&T and Sprint with a total of 43 million customers.

MetroPCS announces 'joyn' communications service

MetroPCS has announced joyn, which offers messaging, video chat, content sharing and synchronization service based on the Rich Communications Services (RCS) standard administered by the GSM Association which oversees the LTE mobile standard. This announcement comes amidst the MetroPCS and T-Mobile merge and will be a welcome addition to customers once the fourth and fifth largest carriers in the US merge.

Samsung's website for the Google Galaxy Nexus has a list which reveals the possible carriers that will receive the first device to run Android 4.0. The page allows you to register and get the latest news on the device and also asks you to select your preferred carrier. The list reveals AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile and also Cellular South, Metro PCS and US Cellular.
