Apple has released a second Gold Master (GM) of OS X Yosemite (10.10) alongside the release of iOS 8.1 beta 2. Given that the Golden Master is usually the final build before an update is released to the public, we don't usually get a GM2 unless there are significant changes. However this doesn't seem to be the case with the OS X Yosemite GM2.
In any case, its likely that Apple has included some much needed improvements under the hood, which they didn't want left out of the final release.
If you're registered on the Apple Developer Program, you can pick up the second Golden Master via Software Update. Those who are on the OS X Beta Seed program, will get the same improvements through the Public Beta 5.
Now that Apple has scheduled an event next week, we can expect the public release of OS X Yosemite to follow soon after. The update will be made available for free through the Mac App Store on compatible devices. We also expect Apple to unveil a new generation of Macs which will come with OS X Yosemite preinstalled.
