Apple Mac OS X (10.10) Yosemite Gold Master (GM) 3 released

Apple Mac OS X (10.10) YosemiteApple is rolling out the third Golden Master (GM) Candidate of OS X 10.10 Yosemite, which is expected to launch later this month, following Apple upcoming media event. At this stage, Apple isn't adding any major features or changes to Yosemite, rather refining the software and making it ready for the end user.

Apple Mac OS X (10.10) YosemiteApple has released a second Gold Master (GM) of OS X Yosemite (10.10) alongside the release of iOS 8.1 beta 2. Given that the Golden Master is usually the final build before an update is released to the public, we don't usually get a GM2 unless there are significant changes. However this doesn't seem to be the case with the OS X Yosemite GM2.

Apple Mac OS X (10.10) Yosemite Gold Master (GM) released

Apple Mac OS X (10.10) YosemiteApple has released the Gold Master (GM) build of Mac OS X (10.10) Yosemite, indicating that the latest version of their desktop operating system is nearly ready for public consumption.

OS X Mavericks was first unveiled back in June, bringing the modern, flattened user interface from iOS 7 into Mac OS. While the features have not changed much since Mavericks, visually Apple has brought uniformity between their desktop and mobile platforms.

The Developer Preview is only available to those registered for Apple's Mac Developer Program, while the Public Beta is available for free to anyone who wants to try out  and help test the pre-release of Yosemite.

Apple Mac OS X (10.10) YosemiteApple has just released the second public beta of Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite which brings several bug fixes and performance improvements to the first beta release. The new build also includes a pre-release version of iTunes 12 which matches the new Yosemite interface.

The update brings the usual performance improvements, but Apple has even managed to sneak in a brand new version of iTunes into the new release.

As expected, the Cupertino company followed this by releasing the first Developer Preview of the platform to those who want to test and provide feedback towards improving the product.

Today Apple announced a brand new version of its desktop operating system, which the company has decided to name Yosemite. Since last year, Apple stopped using the big cat names for their new versions of OS X and replaced it with names of famous places in California. So just like OS X 10.9 Mavericks, we now have OS X 10.10 Yosemite, which brings a new iOS 7 inspired user interface along with several new features and improvements.
