Nokia is ready to release the Windows Phone 7.8 update, waiting for Microsoft's approval
Nokia has reported that they are ready to release the Windows Phone 7.8 update to Nokia Lumia devices running Windows Phone 7.5. The holdup is being attributed to Microsoft, who have still not given the green light to release the update. Nokia did release the WP7.8 update to select Nokia Lumia 800 devices, but it was later confirmed to be a limited test. The final update is expected to be released during the first quarter for 2013

Nokia Lumia 800 receives Windows Phone 7.8 software update
If you own a Nokia Lumia 800, you have reason to rejoice. It looks like the first official Windows Phone form Nokia will be the first in line to receive the Windows Phone 7.8 software update.
Windows Phone 7.8 is a somewhat poor attempt from Microsoft to make up for not offering Windows Phone 8 to their older device. The update features the WP8 start screen experience along with 10 new theme and accent colors, Bing Picture of the Day on the lock screen, security updates and new Nokia apps.
However it doesn’t offer some basic necessities like the ability to connect and sync with the Windows Phone syncing tool or OTA updates.

[Guide] How to install Windows Phone 7.8 on your Nokia Lumia device from Navifirm
Today the Windows Phone 7.8 software update for Windows Phone 7.5 devices was spotted on Navifirm for Nokia Lumia Windows Phones. This is a great indication that it won't be long before the update is publicly made available for these devices. Microsoft previously confirmed that the Windows Phone 7.8 update will be released in early 2013, and since we are less than a month away from the new year it makes sense that the Windows Phone 7.8 is ready for release.
Windows Phone 7.8 attempts to make up for this by bringing the WP8 start screen experience along with 10 new theme and accent colors, Bing Picture of the Day on the lock screen, security updates and new apps. However it doesn’t offer some basic necessities like the ability to connect and sync with the Windows Phone syncing tool or access to Xbox Music.
If you are impatient to wait for the public release and want to try installing the update from Navifirm, you can follow our step-by-step guide on how to install Windows Phone 7.8 for your Nokia Lumia device.
