[NookHD_Plus_thumb%255B4%255D%255B2%255D.jpg][NookHD%255B7%255D.jpg]

The Barnes and Noble Nook HD and Nook HD+ run customized versions of the Android operating system with their own App Stores. While they are available at very competitive prices, it is sometimes hard to choose one of these tablets due to the lack of official apps on their store compared to the vast number of apps available to Android tablets through Google Play.

However it looks like this is about to change as a new OTA (over-the-air) update which is being released for these tablets brings access to the official Google Play Store.

Barnes & Noble NOOK HD+ - Video Review

NookHD_Plus_thumb[4]
The Barnes & Noble NOOK HD+ features a 9 inch full HD touch display, up to 32GB of internal storage which can be expanded through microSD and is powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core processor. The device is a great alternate to other full size tablets like the Apple iPad 4, Google Nexus 10, Microsoft Surface RT or the Amazon Kindle Fire HD 8.9. It’s the lightest among its competitors and comes with a very attractive $270 price tag for its base model, which should win it some attention. You could even consider the 32GB version which is a steal at just $300.

Offering a better display than Amazon’s newest Kindle Fire in a lighter body, the Nook HD+ is clearly a strong contender in the tablet market. But it is missing out on some of the key features which buyers have come to expect from full size tablets.

However if your intention is an affordable e-Book reader with a high quality display and access to the web for browsing or some quick research, the Nook HD+ maybe the right device for you.

The device is priced at $200 like the Google Nexus 7 and the Amazon Kindle Fire HD and users will have to decide between the physical appearance and the customization in order to select a device which suites them.
