Following Amazon's unveiling of their new Kindle Fire HD lineup, Barnes & Noble has revealed their new lineup of Nook tablets. The 7 inch Barnes & Noble Nook HD and the larger 9 inch Barnes & Noble Nook HD+ with a full HD display.
At just 315 grams the Nook HD is the lightest 7 inch tablet in the market. In fact B&N were quick to point out that their new tablet was lighter than the Amazon Kindle Fire and the Google Nexus 7 which both weigh around 340 grams. The Nook HD also offers a higher resolution of 1440 x 900 pixels with a 243 ppi pixel density.
The larger Nook HD+ has a full HD display with a 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution. At 515 grams it is the lightest tablet in its class.
Both devices offer 10 hours of of reading and 9 hours of video playback. The devices also feature SRS TruMedia audio and are powered by dual-core TI OMAP 4470 processors.
The new Nook HD tablets run a customized version of Android 4.0 which are deeply integrated into the Barnes & Noble ecosystem. This means you wont get access to the full Google experience or Android ecosystem.
