Nokia Lumia 620 receives Lumia Black software update with GDR3

The Nokia Lumia 620 has started receiving the Nokia Lumia Black software update with Windows Phone Update 3 (GDR3). The update started rolling out to Lumia 620 owners in Finland and Netherlands yesterday and it looks like it is on a global rollout to devices starting today.

AT&T's prepaid wireless service, Aio (All in one), is the first carrier in the U.S. to offer its customers the Nokia Lumia 620. The Windows Phone 8 device which is priced at $99.99 features a 3.8 inch touch display, 8GB of internal storage which can be expanded through microSD, a 5 megapixel camera capable of 720p HD video capture, a secondary camera for video calls and is powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor with 512MB of RAM.

Keep in mind that you will have to include either Aio's Smart or Pro monthly plans in order to purchase the device at the discounted price. You wont however be required to sign a two-year contract with the carrier.

Nokia Amber update changelog and availability

The Nokia Amber update has started rolling out globally to Windows Phone 8 devices alongside Microsoft's own GDR2 improvements. The update is being pushed out in waves to the Nokia Lumia 520, Nokia Lumia 521, Nokia Lumia 620, Nokia Lumia 720, Nokia Lumia 810, Nokia Lumia 820, Nokia Lumia 822, Nokia Lumia 920 and Nokia Lumia 928. 

The first waves which are being delivered over-the-air (OTA) have already started appearing on Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 handsets around the world, with the Lumia 521, Lumia 810 and Lumia 928 in the US also partaking in the latest Windows Phone software.

The Nokia Lumia 720 may have a clear advantage over the Nokia Lumia 620 with its larger 4.3 inch display, battery life, call quality and slim unibody design. However the Lumia 620 boasts better affordability and its compact design in better suited to single handed use. The Windows Phone 8 experience between the two handsets is almost identical, so the final choice may come down to personal preference.

Nokia Lumia 620 receives 1308 software update

The global variant of the Nokia Lumia 620 is now receiving the 1030.6407.1308.00xx software update. The new update brings improvements to touch, enhancements to camera performance along with other performance improvements, system stability and improved usability.

The update also includes the 'Storage Check' feature under settings which helps resolve the 'other storage' space issue.

Vodafone UK has announced the the Nokia Lumia 920, Nokia Lumia 820 and the Nokia Lumia 620 will be available on its network starting February 6th. The carrier has announced that they have concluded their tests on the devices and that they are now ready for public consumption.

The Nokia Lumia 620 is now available for users in Singapore through the Singtel network. The device is one of the three Windows Phone 8 devices from Nokia and is the most affordable in the Lumia range. It was announced during last year’s LeWeb conference in Paris.

Nokia announces the affordable Lumia 620 Windows Phone 8 device

Today Nokia has announced their third and most affordable member of the Lumia family – the Nokia Lumia 620. Alongside their flagship Nokia Lumia 920 and the mid range Nokia Lumia 820, The Lumia 620 offers the vibrant selection of colors and textures using a new ‘dual-shot’ technique.

Dual Shot involves casting two layers of polycarbonate, a single base layer and a second color, in a transparent or translucent layer, to produce depth effects and secondary color blends.

The Lumia 620 also features changeable shells, allows you to change the color of your device with one of the seven shells you can choose from.
