Alienware, the American computer hardware outfit owned by Dell Inc., has announced that it will be releasing its first machine powered by Steam in November. The device, which will be known as the Alienware Alpha looks likely to be the first commercially available Steam Machine when it launches. However rather than being built on top of Valve’s SteamOS, the Alpha hardware will be reliant on Microsoft’s Windows 8.1 operating system.

Upcoming Windows 8.1 tablets with Intel's Bay Trail processors

Dell Venue Pro receives Windows Phone Tango update

The is the sibling to the Android powered and the first and only Windows Phone 7 device to host a portrait type keyboard. Anyone who owns one of these handsets will be happy to know that the Windows Phone Tango update is now rolling out for the device.


You can receive the update on your device by connecting it to your computer using the Zune Desktop software for Windows or the for Mac.

Dell Streak 7 - Discontinued

The Dell Streak 7 was one of the first tablets to feature a Tegra 2 processor. The company has announced on their website that the 7-inch tablet is no longer available.

The Streak 7 features a 800x480 pixel resolution and shipped running Android 2.2 FroYo. Dell released HoneyComb for the device making it one of the few 7 inch tablets running the tablet version of Android.

Dell Venu Pro receives Windows Phone 7.5 (Mango) software update

The Dell Venue Pro is finally joining it's brethren to receive Windows Phone 7.5 Mango. This means that Windows Phone 7.5 has now been deployed to all the Windows Phone devices and should be available to all users.

The Dell Venue Pro has it's own unique design with it's portrait QWERTY keyboard, but shares it's internal specs with the other Windows Phones.

Dell favors Android over Windows Phone

Dell has apparently cancelled their Windows Phone Mango devices. This includes the upcoming Dell Wrigley, which was meant to be an update to the Dell Venue Pro and appeared on a Dell device roadmap, back in February.

 Sources in Dell say that they don't plan to offer Windows Phone devices this year or next. Dell not too long ago offered to get back to building Windows Phones if Microsoft offered a deal similar to the one they offered Nokia, and since they did't receive a follow up on that offer we probably won't see a Windows Phone from Dell in the very near future.

The Dell Venue Pro is being offered for just $299 without a contract on their website. Since it is an unlocked device it can be used on the AT&T or T-Mobile 3G network.

The device was marked at $499 not too long ago, so this is quite a drop for anyone who is looking for a great device at an even greater price.

Contract options are also available, but the AT&T deal seams to be out of stock at this moment.

Dell Streak 7 for T-Mobile pricing revealed

T-Mobile has revealed that the pricing for the Android Dell Streak 7 will be $330, according to T-Mobile's product page for the upcoming tablet device.

An option for a four month payment of $82.50 a month is also available for customers. This supports T-Mobile's promise that the device will be "amazingly priced"

Dell Venue Pro - Hardware Review

The Dell Venue Pro is among the first line up of Windows Phone 7 devices that were released recently. The Venue Pro features a 4.1 inch touch display, a portrait slide-out QWERTY keyboard, up to 16GB of internal storage which can be expanded through microSD, a 5 megapixel camera and is powered by a 1GHz processor with 512MB of RAM.
