BlackBerry’s CEO Thorsten Heins has confirmed that all existing BlackBerry PlayBook tablets will receive the BlackBerry 10 software update. The PlayBook is the only tablet released by the company but comes in various capacity and connectivity options.
The PlayBook features a 7 inch touch display with a 1024 x 600 pixel resolution, up to 64GB of internal storage, a 5 megapixel camera capable of 1080p HD video capture, a secondary HD camera for video calls which is also capable of 1080p HD video capture, optional 4G LTE connectivity and is powered by a 1GHz dual core processor with 1GB of RAM.

RIM BlackBerry World is online with apps, music and movies
The rebranded BlackBerry World web store is up and running ahead of the BlackBerry 10 launch later today. The BlackBerry World web store features apps, themes, games, music and videos. RIM is expected to officially unveil their first BlackBerry devices, which will be available later in February.
While Music and Movie offerings on the BlackBerry World store are somewhat identical to the competitor’s catalogues, which you can either buy or rent.

RIM will introduce the BlackBerry Z10 and the BlackBerry X10 next week ?
A new report has confirmed that RIM will officially unveil the BlackBerry Z10 and the BlackBerry X10 on January 30th when they reveal their new BlackBerry 10 (BB10) mobile operating system. The Z10 will be a full touch device while the X10 will feature a traditional BlackBerry QWERTY keyboard. Both devices are expected to be priced at less than $199 on contract, which would be a great opportunity to win over some market share.

RIM demonstrates BlackBerry 10 operating system at CES 2013
The BlackBerry 10 platform is expected to be released in just a few weeks , but meanwhile RIM has brought their new platform to the CES 2013 giving potential users and enthusiasts a chance to experience the operating system. The operating system was demonstrated on RIM’s Dev Alpha Unit and not on any of the new devices which are expected to arrive after the launch of the platform.

T-Mobile announces the BlackBerry Curve 9315
Today T-Mobile announced the upcoming availability of the BlackBerry Curve 9315, the most affordable device in their BlackBerry lineup. The device features a 2.44 inch QVGA display, QWERTY keyboard, GPS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 3G connectivity, a microSD storage and a 3.2 megapixel extended depth of field camera with LED flash.
The device is expected to be available on pre-order starting January 16 and will go on sale a week later, on January 23. The Curve 9315 will cost $49.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate card if you sign a two-year contract with the Carrier.

First BlackBerry 10 devices will be released within 30 days of platform announcement
RIM has revealed that they will launch BlackBerry 10 OS and the first two devices running the new platform on January 30, 2013. One of the new handsets will be a full-touch device, while the other will feature a traditional BlackBerry QWERTY keyboard.

RIM announces BlackBerry Messenger 7 with Wi-Fi voice calling
RIM announced that they will be launching BlackBerry OS 10 in January 2013 at a special event. Today they have also confirmed that they will be rolling out an update to their popular BlackBerry Messenger service.
BlackBerry Messenger 7 will be a free update to existing compatible devices and will include a new Wi-Fi voice calling feature which the company is calling BBM Voice.

RIM announces BlackBerry 10 launch on January 30, 2013
Research In Motion (RIM) has announced that their upcoming BlackBerry 10 (BB10) mobile operating system will launch on January 30, 2013. RIM will also unveil the first two devices running BB10 on this date during a special event which be held to mark the release of the platform.
The platform has even received its FIPS 140-2 certification which will allow Government agencies to use the new devices from day one. Since Government agencies are RIM’s biggest clients, it is important that the platform have this certification.

RIM's BlackBerry 10 earns US government security certification
RIM has earned the FIPS (Federal Information Processing Standard) certification for their upcoming BlackBerry 10 operating system. This means that government agencies in the US will be able to use BlackBerry 10 hardware as soon as it becomes available early next year.
The FIPS 140-2 publication is a security standard used to certify cryptographic modules used in computer equipment. It is administered by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in the US and the Communications Security Establishment (CSE) in Canada. With this accreditation, these devices will not be used by US, Canada or other government agencies who may rely on this standard.

RIM releases BlackBerry PlayBook 3G+ in the U.K.
The U.K. may have a speedy new LTE network but RIM has decided to stick to 3G, by releasing their BlackBerry PlayBook 3G+ in the region. The device features a 7 inch touch display, 32GB of internal storage, 3G HSPA+ data connectivity, a 5 megapixel camera capable of 1080p HD video capture, a secondary camera for video calls, and is powered by a 1.5 dual-core processor with 1GB of RAM.
The device has been priced at 420 which is surprisingly 30 more than its equivalent Apple iPad mini, which has already been criticized for its high pricing.

RIM schedules special BlackBerry 10 event on November 7
RIM is holding a special event on November 7th for a group of Canadian politicians, where they aim to demonstrate their BlackBerry 10 platform. The BlackBerry platform is popular among government officials in Canada because of its level of protection offered when sending encrypted messages. It turns out that each member of the parliament receives a BlackBerry on their first day of service.

BlackBerry PlayBook receiving PlayBook OS 2.1 software update
RIM has released the PlayBook OS 2.1 for its BlackBerry PlayBook tablets. The change-log was first leaked back n July giving us an idea of what to expect in the 2.1 update.
This is the first major update for the device since February and will initially roll out to the WiFi variant of the PlayBook and follow with the other variants based on carrier approval. The update brings several new features and improvements along with better support for Android apps, improvements to BlackBerry Bridge, email and PIM.

BlackBerry OS 10 (BB10) is a huge leap forward for RIM's mobile platform and brings a gesture based easy to use interface similar to the one we have learned to love on the BlackBerry PlayBook.
The following video demonstrations of BB10 shows of the essential gestures on the platform which makes it easy to perform just about any task. RIM has a "clear shot at being number 3" suggests CEO
While RIM continues to struggle to find its place in mobile market, CEO Thorsten Heins has a positive outlook on what the future holds for the BlackBerry platform. He believes that the company has what it takes to shift itself into third place in the market.

BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha B running BlackBerry 10 Beta 3 demonstrated
The BlackBerry Jam Americas event is underway and the company showed developers what they can expect from RIM in the year ahead. First up was the latest version of BlackBerry 10 which is currently in Beta 3. The other was a new developer phone, the BlackBerry Dev Alpha B.
The Dev Alpha B features a 4.2 inch display with a 1280x768 pixel resolution, 16GB of internal storage and 1GB of RAM. The device doesn't have a microSD card slot unlike the BlackBerry Dev A device.
