Nokia is continuing the rollout of the ‘Portico’ Windows Phone software update to unlocked Nokia Lumia 920 handsets in Italy and Germany along with EE (Everything Everywhere) branded Nokia Lumia 920 handsets in the UK. The Lumia 920 in the U.S. was the first to receive the update earlier in December and the international update rollout was announced on January 19th and the process is expected to continue throughout March.
The update is rolling out (OTA) over-the-air and you will receive a notification when the update is available for your device. You can also manually check for the update availability by heading over to Settings > Phone update and click ‘check for updates’.
The update is expected to fix issues with the Lumia 920 photography, which sometimes appears to be fuzzy even during daylight shots. You will also get enhancements to the Messaging apps which now allows you to add multiple recipients to a text message. Text messages will be saved to drafts when they are unsent and users can edit text messages before forwarding them. Other improvements include Bluetooth efficiency and reliability along with improved battery management.
The entire update process should take around 30 minutes, so be sure your battery is charged and that you are connected to a Wi-Fi connection before you begin. Now that the international variants of the Lumia 920 are receiving the Portico update, it hopefully wont be long before the update reaches the rest of the world.
