Sony Tablet S receives Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update


Sony has announced that the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) update has started rolling out for the . You will be prompted to receive the ICS update when you connect to your Wi-Fi.

If you don’t receive the prompt you can manually check for the update under settings.

Acer Iconia tablets getting Android ICS on April 25th

Sony releases Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update


Sony announced that they will start rolling out the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) upgrade for their 2011 lineup of Xperia smartphones starting today.

The , , owners in Sweden, Denmark, Iceland, Finland and Norway will be the first in line for the update which will rollout to other global markets in the next 4 - 6 weeks.

A functional version of Android Ice Cream Sandwich has leaked for the , and even comes with a Odin one-click install method. This isn't the much anticipated Premium Suite for the Note and rather a version of Android ICS coated with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI.

HTC Rezound will receive Android 4.0 ICS next week ?

A recent report has revealed that Verizon may be releasing the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) to some of their handsets as early as next week.


The HTC Rezound recently found that a release candidate of it's upcoming Android ICS update had been made available and now it turns out that the device may receive the final version of Android 4.0 as early as April 6th.

Motorola RAZR Android 4.0 ICS update coming next week ?

A recent report has revealed that Verizon may be releasing the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich to some of their handsets as early as next week.

The devices reported to receive the latest version of Android on April 4th are the Motorola Droid RAZR and the Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX.

Motorola Droid X2 will not receive Android ICS

The Motorola Droid X2 features a 4.3 inch touch display, 8GB of internal storage which can be expanded through microSD, an 8 megapixel camera and is powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor with 512MB of RAM.


With these kind of specs it's quite unfortunate to hear that the Droid X2 will not be receiving Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS).

While Motorola Droid X2 users hoped that the less than a year old handset will get the highly sought after ICS update, the device has stayed clear of Motorola's upgrade lists.

Now there is confirmation that the update will not make it's way to the Droid X2 and the news comes a response to a complaint made on Better Business Bureau:

Samsung Galaxy S II will receive Android 4.0 ICS on March 15

The Samsung Galaxy S II is undoubtedly a very popular device, so it's no surprise that it's users have been very impatiently waiting for Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) to make it's way to Samsung's flagship smartphone. The official Facebook page for Samsung Mobile Israel released a statement saying that the ICS update for the Galaxy S II will start rolling out to unlocked and carrier branded handsets in Israel from March 15.

Asus Transformer Prime receives Android ICS software update

Asus has just reported that they are rolling out an Android Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Asus Transformer Prime. The update (9.4.2.14) is reported to help boost battery life which has been a concern for users.

The Transformer Prime which succeeds the Asus Eee Pad Transformer. features a 10 inch display, 8 megapixel camera, an optional keyboard dock and is powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core NVidia CPU with 1 GB of RAM.

Acer Iconia Tab A200 receives Android 4.0 ICS software update

Acer has announced that their Acer Iconia Tab A200 will be receiving Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich in the coming weeks. The A200 which currently runs Android Honeycomb features a 10.1 inch display, 2MP camera and is powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor.

Nokia N9 receives Android 4.0 ICS port

There were definitely many out there who were disappointed when Nokia chose to use Windows Phone as their primary operating system instead of Android. Well there is some good news for anyone who owns a Nokia N9, as there may be a chance for you to dual-boot your Meego device with  (ICS) soon.

Alexey Roslyakov, the developer behind bringing Android 2.3 Gingerbread to the Nokia N900 through the NitDroid project, has posted a picture of the Nokia N9 running an early build of Android ICS.

The picture is titled 'progress' and while it is still in early stages, the works seams to be progressing. The NitDroid team is also said to be working on porting Android 4.0 for the Nokia N900.

Asus Transformer Prime receives Android 4.0 ICS software update

It what turned out to be a pleasant surprise the Asus Transformer Prime has received an early update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS). The update will start rolling out to devices starting today.

The news was announced during the NVidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang's keynote presentation during the CES 2012.

Google Nexus S receives Android 4.0 ICS software update

If you own a Google Nexus S running on T-Mobile's GSM network, there is some good news for you. Google has sent out a tweet stating that they have started rolling out the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update today. The update can take up to a month to reach all the handsets so please be patient and be on the look out.

If you own a GSM version of the Google Nexus S and do not want to wait for the automatic update, you can choose to manually update your device. However be warned that this update is only for the GSM version. and should not be attempted on the CDMA model.

Android 4.0 ICS previewed on Asus Transformer Prime

The Asus Transformer Prime is demonstrated running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS). This is the first we get to see of ICS running on a tablet as the only time Google demonstrated their latest version of Android it was running on the Google Galaxy Nexus.

The Transformer Prime which is the successor to the successful Asus Eee Pad Transformer features the first Tegra 3 quad-core processor on a tablet  in a sleeker frame than it's predecessor. We are not certain if the Transformer Prime will feature Android 3.2 or Android 4.0 on release, but seeing Android 4.0 running on the tablet shows that it is very possible to have ICS launched with the device.
