Google Nexus S receives Android 4.2 Jelly Bean ROM


Several users were left disappointed when Google decided to stop support for the Google Nexus S and the Motorola Xoom when they released . The Nexus S was once the company’s flagship smartphone and has managed to keep up with the latest releases despite its somewhat dates single core processor and 512MB of RAM.

However the developer community doesn't seem quite ready to bid farewell to the handset as knzo, a member of the XDA community has released Android 4.2 for the Nexus S.

Google Nexus S and Motorola Xoom wont receive Android 4.2 from AOSP


Today Google launched their new Nexus Series along with  for the Google Galaxy Nexus and the Google Nexus 7. Unfortunately Jean-Baptiste Queru, the Android Open Source Project technical lead, announced that the newest version of Android will not be made available for the Google Nexus S and the Motorola Xoom.

Google Nexus S is now receiving Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean

It was just last week that Google first started rolling out the Android 4.1.2 update for their Google Nexus 7 and now its making its way to the rest of the Nexus devices including Google Galaxy Nexus and the Google Nexus S. Once the update reaches your device you should receive a notification of its availability. Keep in mind that it may take some time before the update reaches your device as the roll out finds its way to all the devices.

You can also manually check for it by heading over to Settings > About > System Update or you could try to force the update by following this guide.

Google releases Android 4.1 Jelly Bean factory images for Nexus Series

Google has released Android 4.1 Jelly Bean factory images for select devices in their Nexus Series. With the factory stock images you can easily revert back to the stock ROM if you are having trouble with any custom ROMs you may have installed on your devices.

It was just a few weeks ago that Google released the Android 4.1 source code to the Android Open Source Project which saw developers building several custom ROMs for Android devices.

Google Nexus S receives Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OTA update on some devices


Google promised that the will be one of the first devices in line for Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. It turns out that some users are now receiving the latest version of Android as an OTA update on their devices. It is reported that the update process is smooth and that the handset is running well after the update.

The update version JRO03E is 114MB in size, so make sure you are connected to your Wi-Fi during the update process.

Google Nexus S for Sprint receives Android 4.0.4 software update


The Android 4.0.4 update for the on Sprint has been expected for some time now and it turns out that the update has been released for Google device today and has started rolling out right now.


The update brings a number of new enhancements and improvements you can expect from Ice Cream Sandwich, including Android Beam, and the updated camera interface with panorama mode. The update will be be released in waves, so if you don’t see the update immediately it will eventually make your way to your device so keep your eyes open for the update prompt.

Ice Cream Sandwich update for Google Nexus S paused

Google announced that they will be releasing Android 4.0.1 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) for the Google Nexus S GSM version, and the first wave of updates have been released already. However a new post from Google suggests that they will be putting the updates on hold for awhile.

The news comes from Google's Community Manager, Paul Wilcox, who says that they will be pausing the updates for awhile in order to monitor the feedback from people who received the first wave of updates.

Google Nexus S receives Android 4.0 ICS software update

If you own a Google Nexus S running on T-Mobile's GSM network, there is some good news for you. Google has sent out a tweet stating that they have started rolling out the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update today. The update can take up to a month to reach all the handsets so please be patient and be on the look out.

If you own a GSM version of the Google Nexus S and do not want to wait for the automatic update, you can choose to manually update your device. However be warned that this update is only for the GSM version. and should not be attempted on the CDMA model.

The Google Nexus S which is usually priced at $99.99 will be available for free with a 2-year contact and  those who sign up for the device will get exclusive access to the Google Wallet along with $25 of spending money just for signing up.

Google Nexus S coming to AT&T

It looks like the Google Nexus S is finally joining the AT&T ranks after more than a year in the market. The AT&T flavored device is said to be available through Best Buy stores nationwide starting the 24th of July.

While competing carriers are offering 4G on the Nexus S it looks like the AT&T version will be a 3G device which would probably disappoint some of the customers. Those who cant wait until Sunday can pre-order the device today. The Nexus S will be priced at $99.99 with a 2 year contract.

Google Nexus One receives Android 2.3.3 software update

The Google Nexus One is now receiving the Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread software update. The update is rolling out OTA over-the-air and it may take a couple of days before it reaches all the handsets.

The Android 2.3.3 is a small feature release which adds several improvements and APIs to the Android 2.3 platform.

The Nexus One is Google's first flagship smartphone under the Nexus Series and featues a 3.7 inch touch display, 5 megapixel processor, 512MB of internal storage, a 4GB microSD card and it is powered by a 1GHz processor.

Google Nexus S receives Android 2.3.2 software update

Google has started rolling out an update for Nexus S users. The update Android 2.3.2 (build GRH78C) is 600KB in size. While the changelog for this update has still to be released, it fixes the SMS bug which used to send text messages to the wrong contact.
