One of the most frustrating components on our modern smartphones is its battery. It never lasts as long as you want it to, and charging it can take hours when you just don't have the time to spare. But what if your battery can quickly recharge to 70% full in two minutes. Also imagine a battery lasting up to 20 years instead of days.

Sony develops camera sensor shaped like a human eye

Sony has developed an interesting new camera sensor that improves light sensitivity and allows for the use of simpler lenses. While all current camera technology relies on a flat sensor to capture light, Sony’s newest development is a CMOS sensor that is curved, mimicking the curvature of the human retina.

Bluetooth 4.1 features revealed

The Bluetooth SIG (Special Interest Group) announced today all of the new features coming with the latest release of the standard, Bluetooth 4.1. As you would expect with an incremental point release the bump to BT 4.1 isn't groundbreaking, but brings several improvements over Bluetooth 4.0

LG F340 spotted with Snapdragon 800 and 720p display, likely LG's curved G Flex

There have been some rumors that the LG G Flex with its curved OLED display is nearing release. Recently an device codenamed LG F340 (LG G2 was F320) has been revealed in a benchmark with a Snapdragon 800 with Adreno 330 chip. It even has a better performance by the LG G2 but has a 720p display compared to the full 1080p HD display on LG's flagship.

Unlocking your phone is now illegal in the U.S.

Unlocking your phone has now become illegal in the United States. Anyone who unlocked their handset in the U.S. without written consent from their carrier could face civil or even criminal charges. This means you can up to $2500 in fines if you unlock you handset simply for using on another carrier. Its even worse for those who unlock phones for profit, you could end up facing half a million dollars in fines and even imprisonment.

A company called AViiQ is working on a solution for this, with their 'Ready Clip' and 'Quick Charge' mini cables.

Sharp introduces thin and efficient IGZO displays

Sharp has introduced a new type of LCD and OLED screen technology called IGZO (iridium, gallium, zinc oxide) which promises to be thinner, with higher resolutions, smaller bezels and better efficiency due to more transparent pixels. IGZO does that by introducing crystallinity to the amorphous silicon typically used for production

Back in April Sharp announced that its factory in Kameyama, Japan is finally turning out IGZO LED panels. The displays are being made for mostly smartphones and tablets but its possible that other sizes are also being produced.
