The Huawei Ascend W1 is known for being an affordable Windows Phone device, but it is now also known for being hackable. A talented developer has managed to unlock its bootloader and install a custom ROM onto the device, thus opening it up to a whole lot of potential.
The Ascend W1 features a 4.3 inch touch display, 4GB of internal storage which can be expanded through microSD, a 5 megapixel camera, a secondary camera for video calls and is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor with 512MB of RAM.

Huawei Ascend W1 officially announced as the company's first Windows Phone 8 device
Alongside their announcement of their new Android flagship the Huawei Ascend D2, the manufacturer has also announced their first Windows Phone 8 device, the Huawei Ascend W1. The Ascend W1 offers a modest set of features including a 4 inch touch IPS LCD display with a 480 x 800 pixel resolution, 4GB of internal storage which can be expanded thorough microSD, a 5 megapixel camera capable of 720p and is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor with an Adreno 305 GPU.

Huawei W1 reveals an affordable Windows Phone 8 device
The final press photos of the Huawei W1 has leaked, showing a colorful and pleasant looking Windows Phone 8 device. It follows the inspiration led by Nokia and HTC by featuring colors from Windows Phone’s Live Tiles. While the leaked photos shows the blue variant of the device, it is reported that it will also appear in black, white and pink.
With the W1, Huawei aims to offer an affordable Windows Phone 8 device which wont compromise the smooth Windows Phone experience.
