Huawei Ascend W1 officially announced as the company's first Windows Phone 8 device
Alongside their announcement of their new Android flagship the Huawei Ascend D2, the manufacturer has also announced their first Windows Phone 8 device, the Huawei Ascend W1. The Ascend W1 offers a modest set of features including a 4 inch touch IPS LCD display with a 480 x 800 pixel resolution, 4GB of internal storage which can be expanded thorough microSD, a 5 megapixel camera capable of 720p and is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor with an Adreno 305 GPU.
The display uses full lamination technology which should help enhance outdoor visibility. Another feature that this device offers is great battery life as the W1 boasts 470 hours on standby. The device utilizes a power saving technology which reduces the power consumption by 30%, allowing the 1950 mAh battery to last longer than it generally does.
The Ascend W1 will be available in blue, black and white and will be made available in China, Russia this month while Western Europe, Middle East and USA will get the device a little later.
The pricing for the Ascend W1 hasn’t been revealed but we expect to be somewhere in line with the HTC Windows Phone 8S. In fact the device even has unmistakable resembles some of the newest Windows Phones which we can assume will be common for all devices on the platform.
