Alcatel announces three Firefox OS phones and the Fire 7 tablet

Alcatel OneTouch
Alcatel is one of the many handset manufacturers in attendance at the MWC this year and they have some great devices to show us. Along with a new Android range, the Chinese TCL-owned subsidiary is introducing four new, Firefox OS-powered devices. Three of them are mid-level smartphones, and the first tablet with to run Firefox OS.

The most affordable of the lineup will be the Alcatel OneTouch Fire C, which is the successor to the OneTouch Fire. The device features a 3.5 inch touch display, 4GB of internal storage which can be expanded through microSD, a 0.3 megapixel rear camera, HSPA+ connectivity, a 1300 mAh battery, FM radio and a 1.2GHz dual-core processor with 512MB of RAM.

The Alcatel OneTouch Fire E features a 4.5 inch IPS touch display with a 540 by 960 pixel resolution, 4GB of internal storage which can be expanded through microSD, a 5 megapixel rear camera, a 0.3 megapixel front camera, FM radio, HSPA+ download speeds as much as 42Mbps, a 1700 mAh battery and a 1.2GHz dual-core processor with 512MB of RAM.

The Alcatel OneTouch Fire S is the best out of the three smartphones which comes with a 4.5 inch touch display, an 8 megapixel rear camera, a 2 megapixel front camera and a 1.2GHz dual-core processor. The device is expected to have 1GB of RAM though Alcatel has not specified it.

Both the OneTouch Fire E and the Fire S are aimed at "design-conscious" consumers who "want premium features without the price tag". Both devices come in what has become a signature Alcatel design, which does not disappoint.

And last, but not least, we have the first Firefox OS tablet - the Alcatel OneTouch Fire 7. The Fire 7 is unlikely to hit the shelves anytime soon as it was displayed as a "concept" device with specs aimed to appeal to the "mass market". The Alcatel Fire 7 will feature a 7 inch display with a 540 by 960 pixel resolution, two VGA cameras and a 1.2GHz dual-core processor. Alcatel hasn't shared any product images of the Fire 7, but  the device is expected to weigh 10.1 oz (285 g), with a thickness of 0.39'' (9.9 mm).

We're unaware exactly where Alcatel is planning to introduce these new reinforcements to Mozilla's mobile platform, though such devices have a penchant for ending up in emerging markets.
