International Nokia Lumia 920 and Nokia Lumia 820 receive Portico software update

The international variants of the Nokia Lumia 920 and the Nokia Lumia 820 are now receiving the Portico software update, which has already made its way through the U.S. devices. Generally the unlocked variants are the first to receive a new software update. However Nokia decided to switch things up this time.

The update which is officially known as PR 1.1 by Nokia carries the O.S. version 8.0.10211.204 and is reportedly being pre-installed in new Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 devices. The PR 1.1 update has the following new features and improvements:
  • Fix for the camera which allows it to capture higher quality photos. Previously photos are reported to be blurry even during daylight.
  • Always-on feature for Wi-Fi connection, which allows it to stay on even when the display is locked.
  • Ability to reject or ignore a phone call with an SMS
  • Improvements to Bluetooth connectivity and reliability.
  • Improved battery management
  • Fix for an issue which causes phone to freeze or reboot.
  • Improvements to Internet Explorer mobile
The update has started rolling out OTA (over-the-air) and will continue to reach several devices until the end of next month. Nokia suggests that you keep your battery fully charged and stay connected to your Wi-Fi connection before you download the update. The update process should take around 30 minutes
