Sony Xperia S - Software Review


The Sony Xperia S features a 4.3 inch HD multi touch BRAVIA display, 32GB of internal storage, 12MP camera and is powered by a 1.5GHz dual core processor 1GB of RAM. The device runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread and is in line to receive the  update soon. Sony offers it's users a customized Android experience which gives it a unique place among it's competitors.

How to install Beats Audio on any rooted Android Gingerbread handset

The HTC Beats branding has nothing to do with the phone's hardware; it's rather a software experience which has been built into the phones. Now thanks to some modders at XDA developers Beats Audio has been ported to work on any rooted Android 2.3 Gingerbread device or Android Gingerbread-based ROM.

Samsung Droid Charge receives Android 2.3 Gingerbread software update

Samsung and Verizon are preparing Android 2.3 Gingerbread for the Samsung Droid Charge in time for the holidays. The upgrade is 115MB in size and will take the software to version i510.EP4 and will be available on your devices by November 29.

The Droid Charge features a 4.3-inch display, 8MP camera and powered by a 1GHz processor.

Cotton Candy from FXI Technologies brings Android on a USB device

Norwegian based FXI Technologies has developed an Android 2.3 Gingerbread powered USB device which can bring Android OS to any smartphone, tablet, laptop, TV or gaming console.

The device which is code-named 'Cotton Candy' aims to bring the power of Android to literally any screen size, which is probably the biggest limitation of modern Android devices.

LG Optimus 3D will receive Android Gingerbread update soon

The Android 2.3 Gingerbread update for the LG Optimus 3D is set to start rolling out to devices on November 21. The unlocked versions of the handsets will be the first to receive the update, and the carrier versions should receive it before the end of the year.

The update will bring many new features to the device along with the standard security, stability and UI improvements which come with Gingerbread.

Editing footage on the Optimus 3D will now be possible as LG will include a 3D video editor, A video stabilization feature will be available in both 3D and 2D modes, the Gallery app performance will receive a boost, mp3 playback time has been extended and 21Mbps HSPA+ connectivity speeds will allow the device to access the web faster than before.

Samsung Epic 4G receives Android 2.3 Gingerbread software update

The Samsung Epic 4G is a variant of the Samsung Galaxy S with a QWERTY keyboard aimed at business users. It features a 4-inch Super AMOLED display, 5MP camera and is powered by a 1GHz processor and 512MB of RAM.

Samsung has announced that they will be offering the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update for the device.

LG's Optimus series receiving Android Gingerbread

LG has announced that they will be finally releasing the Android 2.3 Gingerbread software update for their premium handsets including the LG Optimus 2X, LG Optimus 3D and the LG Optimus Black.

Users have been waiting for a long time for this update and the company finally revealed this information on their Facebook page today. The update will begin rolling out in Europe with the Optimus 2X receiving it as early as November 1st. The Optimus 3D will be updated starting November 21st and the Optimus Black will receive it starting November 28th. No news on U.S. availability yet.

Motorola Droid Pro receives Android 2.3 Gingerbread software update

The Motorola Droid Pro has been updated with Android 2.3 Gingerbread. The update will be made available OTA and adds some new features and bug fixes along with the features you can expect with Gingerbread.

The improvements include a Download Manager app which will help manage your downloads from apps and emails. Under manage applications you will be able to view which apps are running and how much memory and storage space they are using.

HTC Thunderbolt receives Android 2.3 Gingerbread software update

It's official, HTC Thunderbolt users have received instructions on how to update their handsets to Android 2.3 Gingerbread. The update offers performance improvements and an overall updated experience for users. HTC confirmed that the update was on its way to the handset earlier this month and has kept its promise.

HTC confirms Gingerbread for Thunderbolt and Droid Incredible


The HTC Thunderbolt and the HTC Droid Incredible are set to receive their Android 2.3 Gingerbread updates in September according to  HTC's Facebook page. While the update has been expected for the Thunderbolt, it is a pleasant surprise on the much older Droid Incredible.

Kyocera Echo receives Android 2.3 Gingerbread software update

The Kyocera Echo is now receiving the Android 2.3 Gingerbread software update starting today from Sprint. The update brings features like pinch-to-zoom support, Swype 3.0, Eco mode and an improved downloads app. Features like NFC support and Wi-Fi calling have not still found their way to the device.

Motorola Atrix 4G receives Android 2.3 Gingerbread

The Motorola Atrix 4G was recently being tested on Android 2.3 Gingerbread and is now ready to make the update public. The Atrix 4G which is available in the U.S. through AT&T features a 4 inch touch display, 16GB of internal storage which can be expanded through microSD, a 5 megapixel camera capable of 720p HD video capture, a secondary camera for video calls and is powered by a 1GHz Tegra 2 processor with 1GB of RAM.

If you have rooted your device or unlocked the bootloader to download the beta version of the update, you will have to flash back to the original firmware before you can receive the new update (4.5.91) over the air.

Nokia N900 gets unofficial Android 2.3 port

The Nokia N900 is the company's current flagship which runs Maemo Linux. With a 3.5 inch display, 5 megapixel camera and 32 GB of internal storage it is almost unlimited in it's potential, with it's lack of app support from mainstream developers being it's only downfall.

The folks at NitDroid have managed to bridge this gap by bringing an unofficial version of Android 2.3 Gingerbread to the device, thus giving the N900 users a taste of all the Android goodies.

Android 2.3 Gingerbread - Hands On and Walkthrough

Android 2.3 Gingerbread is the latest update to Google's Android OS. 
Some features include a new Android Keyboard, NFC support, new system colors and improved overall performance.

The Google Nexus S will come with Android 2.3 at launch and the Nexus One will be receiving the update in a few weeks.

Most other high end android devices should receive this update in 2011.
