Samsung ATIV S receives Windows Phone 8.1 update in specific regions

Samsung ATIV S

The Samsung ATIV S was the first official Windows Phone 8 device, so its fitting that it is currently being updated to Windows Phone 8.1 in certain regions. The update bring build 14157, and firmware 2424.14.9.3 to the veteran device.

Unfortunately the release is not as widespread as we would like it to be, with reports suggesting it's limited to Austria, and maybe Hong Kong as well. The carrier-branded version of the handset is not getting the update as we speak, but you never know, things may change in the near future.

There's no official word if Samsung is rolling out the latest update for any other regions, but it could happen soon. The best thing Samsung Ativ S users can do is wait for the company to officially release the update. Meanwhile you can manually check for the update on your device by going to Settings > Phone Update, and you may just find the update waiting for you.

If you do happen to receive the Windows Phone 8.1 update on your Samsung ATIV S, feel free to leave us a comment and let us know below.
