BBM is BlackBerry's proprietary messaging app and it is now available across Android, iOS and Windows Phone along with the company's own BlackBerry OS. BlackBerry hopes that by offering their popular messaging solution across their competitors platforms, they will get the world to once again take notice of their own platform and devices.
Still certain BBM features have still not made their way across iOS and Android, including BBM Video, which allows BBM members to conduct a video chat with another member. BBM Video is highly regarded on BlackBerry OS, so it ideally would make sense for BlackBerry to try and coax customers to use this service on competing platforms rather than allow them to get comfortable with what they have.
