Sony has been making a name for itself with flagship smartphones starting with the Xperia Z1, which has since been succeeded by the Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z3. Interestingly Verizon Wireless in the US is offering a device called the Xperia Z3v which combines the best of Sony's two previous flagships.
Its been awhile since the American market has had an Xperia flagship on its lineup, the last device Sony offered in the US was the Xperia Z1S which was a T-Mobile exclusive. Sadly it was released so close to the Xperia Z2, that it quickly became obsolete.
As its name applies, the Xperia Z3v is clearly a variant of the Xperia Z3. However the company seems to have recycled the design of the Xperia Z2 for Verizon's device. Since the Xperia Z2 was never offered in the US market, the Xperia Z3v offers a fresh look to consumers, with a premium glass body which also happens to be waterproof.
Its screen is also similar to the one of the Xperia Z2 instead of the Xperia Z3, but that's not necessary a bad thing, as it is more accurate, although not as bright. The processor and camera on the other hand are the exact specifications you would find on the Xperia Z3. In any case, if you are a Verizon customer, who happens to be a fan of Sony, the Xperia Z3v can be yours for $199.99 with a two-year contract.
