Microsoft is now rolling out its third update for the Windows Phone 8.1 Developer Preview. The first update was released in May with bug fixes and improvements to battery life, followed by a second update in early June. The newest update brings the build 12397 and can be found by heading to 'Phone Update' under Settings.
This third update brings APIs changes and support for 'newly commercialized devices', but you won't notice any visible changes to your Windows Phones, according to Microsoft. However all users are encouraged to download and install the latest version.
You should receive a notification when the update is ready to be installed on your device. If you have not received a notification you can manually download and install the update by heading to 'phone update' under Settings. Make sure that your battery is fully charged, and that you are connected to your Wi-Fi before initiating the update.
Windows Phone 8.1 will debut on new devices like the Nokia Lumia 630,. Lumia 635 and Lumia 930 and will brings new features like the Cortana personal assistant, the Action Center to manage your notifications, customizable lockscreens, Internet Explorer 11 and more.
