Sprint has started rolling out the Android 4.4 KitKat software update for HTC One handsets on its network. The update brings the 4.06.651.4 software version along with Android 4.4.2 and HTC Sense 5.5 to your device.
While Sprint has not released an official change-log, it is assumed that the handset will have the same features offered to the unlocked and European versions of the device.
HTC handed the updated over to U.S. carriers back in January but later stated that they cold miss their self imposed 90 day deadline for releasing the update by one to two weeks. However following the release of the update in Canada and more recently for Sprint in the U.S., it looks like KitKat will be landing on the HTC One sooner rather than later.
According to Sprint the official network initiated roll-out will begin on February 11. The update will then be rolled out in stages and can take several days for delivery. You will receive a notification when the update is available for your device at which point you can download and install it.
If you are impatient waiting for the official rollout, you can manually initiate the update request to check if the update is available for your device by heading to Apps > Settings > System Updates > HTC software update > Check Now. You can choose to download the update only over Wi-Fi in order to save your mobile date. If a system update is available, follow the prompts to download and install the update. Otherwise, tap OK and try again later.
