Google Galaxy Nexus for Verizon receives Android 4.4 KitKat ROM

Google recently confirmed that the Galaxy Nexus will not receive the Android 4.4 KitKat update, as it is the company's policy not to update devices which have been in the market for longer than 18 months. This means that the Google Galaxy Nexus will forever remain on .

Luckily the developer community is not as willing to give up on the two year old smartphone. First the international Galaxy Nexus would receive Android KitKat in the form of a ROM, and now the Verizon variant is getting to savor the latest version of Android.

A developer who is known for producing OTA quality ROMs for the Verizon version of the GALAXY Nexus, baldwinguy77, has put together a ROM covering Android 4.4 KitKat for the phone. He included the usual Google and Verizon apps that you would find on an OTA update even to the point of not having the update rooted (although it can be easily done if you want to).

If you are interested in installing the ROM and are confident in installing such updates, you can download it using the source link below. However keep in mind that you will not be able to turn to Verizon if you face any issues. The developer has stated that the ROM is bug free, but as it is an early build, its best to look out for bugs.
