The Nokia N9 proves yet again to be a very versatile device. A couple of days ago we reported that the N9 was running a port of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and now it has been spotted Mozilla’s Firefox OS.
Firefox OS aims to be a fully free and open HTML5 based mobile OS, based on Linux and Gecko. Nightly builds of the operating system are currently available for testing and a developer has managed to install it on his N9.
Watch the following video demonstration of the Mozilla Firefox OS running on the Nokia N9.
The N9 running Firefox OS has Wi-Fi, data connection and SMS working. Phone calls apparently work but only without sound. As the demo shows hardware acceleration seams quite acceptable, but you can see that the UI looks to be upside down for now.
Will there be a public release of this port ? Only time will tell so stay tuned.
