LG has announced that they will be finally releasing the Android 2.3 Gingerbread software update for their premium handsets including the LG Optimus 2X, LG Optimus 3D and the LG Optimus Black.
Users have been waiting for a long time for this update and the company finally revealed this information on their Facebook page today. The update will begin rolling out in Europe with the Optimus 2X receiving it as early as November 1st. The Optimus 3D will be updated starting November 21st and the Optimus Black will receive it starting November 28th. No news on U.S. availability yet.
It is also important to note that the update will first make it's way to unlocked and unbranded versions of the device. So if you own a carrier branded version you will have to wait longer until the updates are tested for quality and performance.
The news comes after LG announced that they wont be offering the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Optimus 2X which was the first device to sport a dual core processor. Optimus 2X users will be happy to at least receive the Gingerbread update following that disappointing news.
