Windows Phone Apollo is the next major update to the Windows Phone platform and is likely the codename for Windows Phone 8. Windows Phone’s Mango update has been released to manufacturing and will find it’s way to most devices by the end of 2011.
Windows Phone Apollo should be ready for mainstream consumption by 2012.
Windows Phone Apollo will follow the release of Windows Phone Tango which is aimed at low end smartphones. Hints of Microsoft working on this update were revealed further when an opening for a Windows Phone 8 engineer was seen on the Microsoft website.
