The ads are entertaining and in line with Microsoft's recent attempts to look “more fun, even if production-oriented”.

Today Microsoft has released an update for its apps which include the ability to print to an AirPrint compatible Printer along with the usual bug fixes and performance improvements.

Microsoft updates Office Online, now available in the Chrome Web Store

Microsoft OfficeMicrosoft has released a major update for Office Online (available on office.com). Along with the update, Microsoft has also released their web based Office apps on the Chrome Web Store. You can now add Word Online, PowerPoint Online, and OneNote Online to your Chrome App launcher.

Users of the Chrome web browser and Chrome OS will be able to launch the Office apps and create Office documents online with a single click from their desktops.

Business users will still require an Office 365 subscription to create and manage documents.

The application acts like a mobile scanner that allows users to take pictures of things like business cards, restaurant menus, notes on whiteboards or blackboards and turn them into OneNote notes for later editing.

Microsoft OneNote now free on Mac and Windows

Microsoft OneNoteMicrosoft has made OneNote free on the Mac and Windows platform, which means the note taking service is now free across all platforms. Additionally the company released a cloud-based API facilitating the integration of both first and third-party apps with with OneNote. This move is just another step for Microsoft to revitalize its cloud presence in the modern post PC era.

Microsoft Office 365 Personal will be available for individual users

Microsoft OfficeMicrosoft Office 365 is available for general users for $99 per year. For what you pay you get the entire suite of Microsoft Office on up to 5 Windows or Apple computers, plus up to 5 mobile devices.

However it seems Microsoft now understands that not everyone needs an Office licenses for so many computers and mobile devices, so they have newly introduced Microsoft Office 365 Personal.

Microsoft Office for iOS was released early last month with support for just the iPhone and it is finally making its way to Android devices. Just like with the iOS version the Microsoft Office for Android is only compatible with Android phones and not tablets. Another similarity is that while the app is available as a free download users will require an Office 365 subscription in order to use it.

Microsoft Office 2013 reaches RTM

We have some great news from Microsoft, as Microsoft Office 2013 is now Released to Manufacturing (RTM). This comes as quite a pleasant surprise as previous reports suggested that Microsoft will not be able to complete their latest Office Suite in time for the Windows 8 launch.

The engineering team for Office are reported to have completed the coding and testing and have it ready for the release of Microsoft’s new operating system.

Microsoft Office for iOS and Android coming in March next year ?


Windows 8 is set to be released on October 26 alongside the Microsoft Surface which runs Windows RT. The final version of Office 2013 is expected to launch sometime early next year, but it looks like Microsoft will not stop with Office for Windows as reports suggest that they have plans for bringing Office 2013 to iOS and Android as well by March of next year.

Windows RT, the ARM version of Windows 8 is set to be released on October 26th and with in Microsoft is expected to include the new tablet optimized version of Office. However Office 2013 will not be ready in time for the Windows 8 launch and Microsoft will be releasing Windows RT with a Preview version of Office 2013 instead.
