HTC Desire 820 officially announced with 64-bit Snapdragon 615 chip

The was announced at the company's IFA 2014 event as a new mid-range device. What's unique about this handset is its 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor, which will prepare its owners for Android "L Version" update which comes with 64-bit support.

Much like the other members of the HTC Desire family, the Desire 820 features a plastic unibody build, with a two tone color. You get a 5.5 inch 720p HD display and HTC BoomSound speakers for excellent multimedia experience.

You get a generous 13 megapixel backside-illuminated rear camera with support for rapid-fire photography and continuous shooting. You also have an extremely generous 8 megapixel camera in the front for high high quality selfies and software that lets you merge friends' photos with yours, apply digital makeup, and capture several moments in a single image.

Additionally HTC has built a special Dot View case for the Desire 820, which gives it a retro sheen with swipe gestures and a choice of 18 graphical themes.

The HTC Desire 820 will be available for purchase by the end of September - early October, for an undisclosed, but "affordable" price. It will be available in a extensive set of matte and glossy two-tone colors: Marble White (glossy), Tuxedo Grey (matte), Santorini White (glossy), Milky-way Grey (glossy), Tangerine White (glossy), Saffron Grey (glossy), Flamingo Grey (glossy), Blue Mist (glossy), and Monarch Orange (glossy).
