The Sony Xperia M2 is now receiving the Android 4.4 KitKat software update. The new software brings Android 4.4.2 along with several improvements from Sony. Among the improvements you will receive a new home launcher, new themes, new Sony Media apps and the new Quick Settings feature. The Sony social camera app receives the Portrait ReTouch capability, and there is a new boot-up animation.
Those with the single SIM version is currently receiving the update in regions like Russia, Singapore, Thailand, and France. However please note that the update requires users to download and install the Sony PC Companion as it is not available OTA (over-the-air) at this time. The LTE (D2303) model is receiving the 18.3.C.0.37 firmware version, while the HSPA+ (D2305) model is receiving the 18.3.A.0.31 firmware version. Currently the update is not available for the Dual SIM version of the device.
The Sony Xperia M2 is a mid-range Android smartphone which features a 4.8 inch touch display, 8GB of internal storage which can be expanded through microSD, an 8MP rear camera, a secondary camera for video calls, a 2300mAh battery and a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor with 1GB of RAM and Adreno 305 graphics.
