Google has just announced a new version of its mobile operating system, it is referring to as its Android L Release, during its Google I/O 2014 developer conference. The new version of Android will offer a revamped user interface with a flattened yet colorful layout, an updated notification center will be updated to better resemble Google Now among other features and improvements.
Obviously the Google Nexus devices and the Google Play Edition devices will be the first to receive the next version of Android, followed by the various flagships from manufacturers. Are you wondering when your handset will receive the Android L Release? Keep an eye on the following list to find out.
The new version of Android will be released to the public this fall, but the Android L Developer Release will be offered to developers with a Google Nexus 5 and a Google Nexus 7 on June 26 alongside the SDK. It is not known if Google plans to release the L release for older devices like the Google Nexus 4, Google Nexus 10 or the original Google Nexus 7.
HTC was the first manufacturer to make an announcement regarding updating their handsets to Google's newest operating system. The Taiwanese company just revealed that its current flagship smartphone, the HTC One M8, will be updated to Android L "within 90 days of receiving final software from Google." What’s more, the HTC One (M7) from last year will also receive the update within the same time frame.
