Lumia Cyan with Windows Phone 8.1 to bring imaging improvements and updates to imaging apps

During a Q&A session on the Nokia Conversations blog, the company's camera experts, Juha Alakarhu and Eero Salmelin, who are now with Microsoft, revealed more details about imaging improvements and updates coming to imaging apps with Lumia Cyan software update, which is expected to roll out this summer.
Here are some of the key points discussed about some of our devices during the Q&A Sessions
  • Lots of imaging improvements are expected for the Lumia 1520, Lumia Icon and Lumia 930 with Cyan update, including:
    • Much better low light performance
    • Better colors
    • Continuous autofocus
    • better video quality
    • And even the raw (DNG) images will look better because we are using the sensor in more clever way.

  • Cyan will bring continuous autofocus to Lumia 630, Lumia 1520, Lumia Icon, and Lumia 930

  • Lumia Cyan will brings updates to the imaging apps (Creative Studio, Storyteller and Camera).
    • The Creative Studio app is completely rewritten and it has new filters, and non-destructive editing.
    • Nokia Storyteller has feature called story sharing that allows you to share the living images as a video on Facebook or Twitter.
    • The new Storyteller has feature called story sharing that allows you to share the living images as a video.
    • Nokia camera has been improved. It is a bit faster and better camera roll.
The "Lumia Cyan" update will be released to all existing Lumia Windows Phone 8 devices along with the Windows Phone 8.1, later this summer. Along with the Windows Phone 8.1 features, which users can now experience with the Developer Preview, Nokia Lumia Windows Phone 8 users are expected to get the following enhancements with Lumia Cyan.
  • An enhanced imaging experience with new Camera Roll option that provides faster access to pictures, image-editing tools and sharing options, directly from Nokia Camera.
  • Updated Nokia Creative Studio (new filters, non-destructive editing, and more).
  • An improved version of Nokia Storyteller with support for video slideshow that can be shared via Facebook or Twitter.
  • Nokia SensorCore SDK / technology (always-on motion sensor) in the new phones like the 630, will track your day activities, like walking running etc converting your phone into pedometer.
  • Device Specific Enhancements: The Nokia Lumia 1520, Lumia Icon and the new Lumia 930 will be able to project content wirelessly to Miracast-enabled screens, TVs, and projectors. Update will also bring Dolby Surround Sound Capturing with Nokia Rich Recording and playback in real 5.1 Dolby Digital Plus format to these devices.
