Android 4.4.3 OTA update, now arriving on Google Nexus devices

Earlier, we reported that Google had made the Android 4.4.3 Factory images available for their Nexus devices. Now it looks like the OTA update has begun rolling out to the Google Nexus lineup. The Factory Images are usually meant for advanced use and requires the user to issue the fastboot command to install the update.

The Google Nexus 5 users are reportedly receiving the update with the KTU84M build number, while those with the Wi-Fi Google Nexus 7 (2013) are reported to be receiving the update with the KTU84L build number. You will need to be running the stock version of Android in order to receive the update, so make sure you revert back to stock if you are rooted and using a custom ROM.

You can download the official Google Nexus Android 4.4.3 OTA zips using the following links
You can use our guide on how to install the Android KitKat OTA zip update, as a guide if you need help with installing the above updates.

The update is being rolled out in stages, so it may be awhile before it reaches your device. In case you don't receive the OTA notification today, give it a few days before you panic.

Among various bug fixes, security updates, stability updates and improvements, the Android 4.4.3 update promises to "improve the power profile", which should result in better battery life. The update also brings a new Dialer, which offers a more visual experience. You'll notice that your favorites/recent contacts list has been redesigned to be a grid of images. This not only makes it look better, but it removes the annoyance of accidentally swiping away a contact as you try to learn that this Dialer doesn't use the same swipe gesture navigation as the previous version. If you want to remove a contact you will have to issue a long-press. The actual keypad is no longer a dark panel that slides up, but a separate screen with blue numbers on a white background. The icons for unknown numbers have been redesigned as well.

Once the update to the Nexus lineup is one its way, Google should start rolling out the Android 4.4.3 update to its Google Play edition devices.
