[Windows Phone app] Microsoft Office Lens

Microsoft Office LensMicrosoft has released Office Lens for Windows Phone 8 devices. The application acts like a mobile scanner that allows users to take pictures of things like business cards, restaurant menus, notes on whiteboards or blackboards and turn them into OneNote notes for later editing.

You can download the app directly on your device through the Windows Phone Store. You can also download the app using the following link

Press the Search searchbutton on your Windows Phone, tap Vision vision and then scan the following barcode by pointing your device camera toward it

Office Lens trims, enhances and makes pictures readable. Weird angles are straightened, shadows are cleaned up and the images are automatically synced to OneNote, so you can get to them on all your devices

When your picture includes printed text, such as a poster or business card, OneNote on a PC can recognize the text with optical character recognition (OCR) so you can search for words in the image — and you can edit the text, or copy and paste it into apps like email and documents.

Office Lens has three modes, or settings, that help make your captures look their best:
  • With Whiteboard mode, Office Lens trims and cleans up glares and shadows.
  • With Document mode, Office Lens trims and colors them perfectly.
  • With Photo mode, you can take pictures of people and scenery.

Microsoft Office Lens can be used to
  • Capture pictures of whiteboards and share your meeting notes with co-workers.
  • Make digital copies of your printed documents, business cards or posters. The text will be automatically recognized (using OCR) so you can search and edit it.
  • Take pictures of menus, shopping lists, or children’s sketches so you never have to worry about forgetting or misplacing them.

[NOTE] Office Lens requires logging in with your Microsoft Account. Your Microsoft Account must be same as the one registered on your device.
