The Sony Xperia Z Ultra is now receiving the Android 4.4 KitKat software update. Users who own the 6.4 inch device in Hong Kong are reportedly the first to receive the newest version of Android. While Android 4.4.2 will roll out to Xperia Z Ultra units located in other countries, there is no road map that suggests when these might occur.
The update to Android 4.4.2 will bring improvements to boost the performance of the handset, offer faster multi-tasking, support for various cloud based storage providers and a full-screen mode for certain apps.
The Sony Xperia Z Ultra features a 6.4 inch TFT display with a 1080 by 1920 pixel resolution. You get 16GB of native storage which can be expanded through microSD, an 8 megapixel rear camera, a 2 megapixel front camera, a 3050 mAh battery and a 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor with Adreno 330 graphics and 2GB of RAM. The device includes IP 58 certification which gives it some protection against water and dust.
