Wiko Mobile, a company presented as “France’s fastest growing local phone maker", has announced the Wiko WAX, which happens to be the first Android smartphone to use the NVidia Tegra 4i SoC (which includes an NVidia i500 LTE modem).
The Wiko WAX is a mid-range Android Jelly Bean smartphone, which features a 4.7 inch 720p display, and an 8MP rear camera. Its Tegra 4i chip features 4+1 CPU cores clocked at up to 2.3GHz, and a 60-core GPU which promises “up to 2X higher performance than competing phone chips.”
The Wiko WAX will go on sale starting April, not just in France, but also in other European markets, including the UK, Germany, Italy, Spain, Belgium and Portugal. The smartphone’s price hasn’t been announced, but we imagine it won't be high.
According to Nvidia, the Wiko WAX is Europe's first Tegra 4i-based handset. This probably means that the Tegra 4i version of LG's G2 mini won't be reaching Europe too soon.
