Marvell Armada SoC announced with 64 bit ARM Cortex A53 processor with 5 mode LTE modem

MarvellMarvell has announced its new Armada PXA 1928 chipset at the MWC on Tuesday. The SoC includes a quad-core, 1.5GHz Cortex A53-based CPU and a full HD-capable GC5000 GPU. The SoC also supports a number of connectivity options including LTE TDD/FDD, HSPA+, TD-HSPA+, and EDGE. It even supports VoLTE service.

The Armada Mobile PXA 1928, which is built for Android and Linux mobile operating systems, will be shipped out next month to customers for sampling. This new offering joins other LTE-enabled SoC solutions offered by Marvell. For example, the Armada Mobile PXA 1088 is a SoC used by Chinese manufacturers Coolpad, Lenovo and Hisense to drive low priced 4G-LTE handsets sold by China Mobile.
"The 64-bit Armada Mobile PXA 1928 is the latest addition to our industry-leading single-chip, multi-core mobile processor family. 4G-LTE is such a critical technology for the 'Smart Life and Smart Lifestyle' vision. I believe that through continued innovation, invention and dedication our talented global engineering teams have yet again raised the technology bar in advancing the mobile industry." - Weili Dai
The new SoC can be complemented with Marvell's Avastar 88W8887, which provides connectivity for 802.11ac Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 4.0. It also includes a multi-mode, multi-band LTE RF transceiver, and an FM radio.
