HTC One for T-Mobile receives Android 4.4 KitKat with Sense 5.5 software update


HTC One for Sprint receives Android 4.4The HTC One for T-Mobile is now receiving the Android 4.4 KitKat software update. update with HTC's Sense 5.5.  The update is being pushed out OTA (over-the-air) and you should receive a notification when it is available for your device. If your T-Mobile branded HTC One hasn't received the OTA update yet, remember that these software updates generally takes days before reaching all devices.You can also try to pull the update out of the phone by going to Settings > Phone Update > Check for update > Download now.

 Once you do receive the notification and initiate the update, it should take 25 to 30 minutes to download, and an additional 10 to 20 minutes to install. You should be on a Wi-Fi network and your battery needs to be at least 35% charged.

The update brings several enhancements including a new menu for BlinkFeed that gives users a quicker access to search and content sources. The updated location settings can help you extend battery life by showing you the estimated battery use of each app. A list will show you which apps are using location settings and a master switch allows you to turn all location settings on and off. The Gallery application has also been updated with panels replacing the drop-down menu. You can swipe left or right to change panels, and the update also allows for faster access of photos from social networks and the cloud.

A Do Not Disturb setting comes along with the update, and allows you to block calls, and turn off sounds, vibrations and notification lights during certain times. The feature can be set to return to normal mode at a set time. Do Not Disturb can be reached by going from Settings > Sound > Do Not Disturb.

You will find other changes in the music app, which has been redesigned. And adding widgets in the lock screen is now much easier after the update. Swipe left from the lock screen, tap on +icon and you can choose widgets for the screen. The update also improves the quality of pictures taken under low light conditions and supports the use of Zoodles video mail.



The HTC One for AT&T should also receive the Android 4.4.2 update soon as it has reportedly received technical approval from the carrier.
