We recently reported that the Nokia Lumia 1520 was expected to be unveiled during the end of October. New information backs up this information suggesting that Nokia's first phablet will be unveiled on October 22nd. It has also been reported that the device will be the first Windows Phone running the GDR3 update and will be launched on AT&T on November 8th - two weeks after the unveiling.
This report suggests that the date has been confirmed by multiple sources.
The available information also shows the Lumia 1520 being priced at $699 off-contract, which is even higher than the Nokia Lumia 1020, which was priced at $649 on launch. However there is some speculation that the Lumia 1520 may have a lower off-contract price, while it will be priced at $299.99 subsidized.
The Nokia Lumia 1520 brings many first for Nokia. It will feature a large 6 inch display with a 1080 by 1920 pixel resolution. There will be 32GB of internal storage which can be expanded through microSD, a PureView camera, a 3400 mAh battery, 4 microphones for Rich Audio Recording and will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chip with 2GB of RAM. The Nokia Lumia 1520 will be available in red, black, yellow and white.
The support for its 1080p display and quad-core processor comes with Windows Phone 8 GDR3. Hopefully the release of GDR3 will finally give the WIndows Phone platform the edge it needs to properly compete with iOS and Android.
