Alcatel OneTouch Fire officially announced with Firefox OS, coming this summer

The Alcatel OneTouch Fire has been officially announced and is set for its first commercial launch in Europe and Latin America this summer. The One Touch Fire is an entry level Firefox OS smartphone which features a 3.5 inch display with a 320 by 480 pixel resolution, a 3.2 megapixel camera without flash which is capable of capturing VGA quality video at 30fps, FM radio, 512MB of internal storage which can be expanded through microSD and is powered by a 1GHz MSM 7227 processor. While these may not match some of the top smartphones, the likely affordability should be warmly welcome in emerging markets.

Despite its small size the handset has a 1400mAh battery which Alcatel claims up to 6.7 hours of talk-time on 2G and around 3 hours on 3G. The handset will be available in a range of colors including Mozilla Orange, Apple Green or Pure White.

Unfortunately Alcatel hasn't deemed it necessary to reveal the pricing or exact release dates at this time, nor have the announced which market will be the first to get the device. With an established line-up of Android powered smartphones, the manufacturer was the first to announce its support for the new Firefox mobile operating system and we are excited to see how this and other Firefox OS devices fair against other platforms in the market.
