Opera has released a preview build of their next generation web browser for Windows and Mac computers. The new version is built on Chromium, just like the Opera for Android which recently graduated from beta. A feature you may miss is Opera Mail, which has been split away from the new browser. Opera has also included a couple of new features, including bringing the 'Discover' recommendation system to the desktop.You can download and test Opera Next on your Windows or Mac computer by downloading it through the following link.
The new version of Opera is based on Chromium, which Google Chrome users may be familiar with. Opera promises a new set of standards and a higher performing browser with Opera Next.
Discover has been available on the Android version of Opera and allows users to view content based on preset categories and locations. Users will also notice the new 'Stash' feature which is a type of bookmarks which allows you to pin individual items, or entire web pages for easy access.
Opera Mail which has been removed from the main app is now available as a separate standable application. You can download the first reveal candidate for Windows or Mac.
We would have prefered to see the Mail function introduced as an extension to their Chromium browser rather than a separate application. We don't see users installing and using Opera Mail as a separate application.
