The Samsung Galaxy S III for Verizon is receiving a new software update which is 129.1MB in size and brings several new features and improvements to the handset. The update which is being offered OTA (over-the-air) can take up to 8 minutes to download and an additional 8 minutes to install. You may want to connect to your Wi-Fi to avoid data charges.
The Galaxy S III for Verizon features a 4.8 inch Super AMOLED HD display, 8 megapixel intelligent camera in the rear which is capable of 1080p HD video capture, a secondary front facing camera which is capable of 720p HD video capture, up to 32GB of internal storage which can be expanded through microSD, NFC connectivity, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and is powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core processor with 2GB of RAM.
Among the new features is the multi-screen and multi-window mode, which allows users to run two apps side-by-side. The update also brings the ability to add the cost of apps downloaded from the Google Play Store to your monthly Verizon bill. Additionally the camera now offers the ability to select the best group picture from a selection of five photos captured in burst mode.
The update also brings Paper Artist, which allows you to turn a photograph into a pencil sketch and then enhance it using tools on your device. Additionally the Caller ID has been revised and Flipboard is now pre-installed on your handset.
Updates generally roll out in phases, so give it a day or two if you don't receive an update notification immediately and be sure to check back for the update under Settings.
