HTC One launch delay caused by UltaPixel camera components

The HTC One is definitely one of the hottest handsets to be announced so far and trumps the Samsung Galaxy S IV in the looks department at least. Now it has been confirmed that the device will be delayed due to camera component shortages.

HTC has already confirmed the UK launch delay and have pushed the release of the handset from March 15th to March 29th. Even though they previously stated that the U.S. won't be affected by this delay because they were on a different schedule, Best Buy has pushed their launch of the device to next week instead of this one.

The cause has been identified as the UltraPixel camera, which requires specific components which cannot be replaced by off-the-shelf gear. HTC had to cut component order forecasts with suppliers due to poor sales last year, which resulted in the company losing its privileged customer status, leaving their supplies backordered.

We are curious to see how these delays will affect the HTC One, which appears to be a very good offering in the premium smartphone market. It features a 4.7 inch touch display with an FHD resolution, up to 64GB of internal storage, a 4 megapixel camera with UltraPixel technology which is capable of 1080p HD video capture, a secondary camera for video calls and is powered by a 1.7GHz quad-core processor with 2GB of RAM. But its most impressive feature is its beautiful design which users will find a pleasure to hold in their hands.
