Flip-to-silence feature coming soon to Nokia Lumia Windows Phone 8 devices through a software update


A new report suggests that Nokia Lumia Windows Phone 8 devices will soon receive a new firmware update which will bring the flip-to-silence feature among other improvements and enhancements. This feature is already available in the first generation Lumia smartphones but has not been a feature a new Windows Phones for an unknown reason.

Flip to silence is a feature on smartphones which allow users to silence an incoming call by flipping their device over. This is quite useful if you are at a meeting and you quickly want to silence a phone you forgot to silence.

A new firmware (1030.6402) has been found on Nokia’s servers for the Nokia Lumia 620 which hits at this feature will soon be available to Windows Phone 8 devices.


The update is also reported to improve battery life and performance on the Lumia 620 along with adding the flip-to-silence feature. It is likely that other Windows Phones will also benefit from these features.
